Northern Maine General is a non-profit social service organization located in Eagle Lake, Maine. The Maine State Legislature created NMG in 1907. At that time, it was both a hospital and a home for the aged under the care of the Little Franciscan Sisters of Mary. Since then, NMG has grown, responding to local and regional needs. The agency now serves individuals throughout northern and central Aroostook County from its offices in Eagle Lake and Caribou.

The divisions of NMG meet a broad range of critical social service needs in a traditionally underserved region of Maine. Through its programs, NMG works with at-risk children and adolescents, developmentally disabled adults, the elderly, ill, and displaced. Services include outpatient rehabilitation, children’s mental health and habilitation services, adult and children’s case management, youth group home care, adult foster care, training for adults with developmental disabilities, supportive employment opportunities, nursing home care, and boarding home care.
